Prima Cheese is a multi-award-winning cheese processing company with a 28-year heritage. It is a family-owned business, employing nearly 200 people and operates only within B2B markets, where it has gained a reputation for quality, consistency, and service. It is one of the biggest cheese suppliers of foodservice and food manufacturing within the UK and exports their product to over 55 countries worldwide. With both domestic and international business, the company continues to grow and is looking to expand their team.

This role is to manage the deliveries in the UK Market, 11 drivers and two office staff. Therefore substantial experience in leadership and management is essential for this role.

Be the first point of contact for all drivers, transport office and liaise with outside service/repair agents to ensure maintenance of equipment and vehicles.

·Manage the day-to-day operations of the transport department, ensuring that staff members comply with the organisation rules, safety procedures and all government regulation.

·Ensure company compliance of all transport policies, legislation and procedures relating to Tachographs, Drivers’ Hours Rules, WTD & RTD.

·Manage Drivers’ full debrief, including tacho analysis.

·Maintain accurate administrative records, managing transport data collection and entry onto IT systems.

·Appraise staff performance, taking disciplinary measures when required.

·Liaising with internal departments to ensure a smooth and timely operation to ensure finished goods are ready on time to meet loading schedules.

·Raising orders and sales orders on internal database and SAGE200.

·Arranging for the induction and continued training of all transport office staff and drivers.

·Working closely with freight forwarders to arrange shipping and haulage.

·Arranging and completing documentation accurately and in a timely manner.

·Overseeing the loading dispatching of orders.

·Be involved in transport strategic development and planning.

·Problem solving to ensure problem resolution for customers and delivering excellent customer service.

·Monitor and report vehicle running costs and take appropriate action to improve efficiency when necessary.

·Identify operational issues, potential problems and opportunities.

·Maintaining a quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards.

·Maintaining professional knowledge, establishing personal networks.

·Contributing to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

·Develop and maintain continues improvement of a food safety and quality culture within the company.
